The Met’s spring 2013 Costume Institute exhibition, PUNK: Chaos to Couture, highlighted fashion in the cultural context of music and moving images.  Seven themed galleries brought specific musical influences into focus through immersive multimedia, soundscapes and music videos.Met_Museum_Punk_Intro_long view

Separating Audio Visual Extremes

Video and audio were integrated throughout the show. Screens ranged from a working vintage tv in a recreation of Vivienne Westwood’s original retail shop, “430 King’s Road”, to multi-monitor walls, to 6 16-foot LED walls running Punk footage. Isolating the multiple types of music presented in discreet display areas presented a containment challenge, which we met in part through careful balancing of a custom multi-zone audio soundscape.
